A motoring YouTuber has revealed what its like to drive one of the most popular electric family cars, stating he was particularly impressed with the performance.

Matt Richardson runs the Furious Driving YouTube channel – where he’s seen road testing cars, old and new, and fixing his fleet of interesting models.

In one of his recent videos, Matt briefly gets behind the wheel of an all-electric Kia EV6, a model he claimed he had wanted to drive for a long time.

He said: “Wow, that is some quite fierce acceleration. It’s pretty impressive for a big and actually fairly heavy car as well, it’s not bad at all.

“Typical of pretty much every EV out there you can feel the weight of it as you go down the road, but it controls pretty well, I’d say.”

In the video, Matt explains that the model he drove features all-wheel drive and dual motors that produce 321 horsepower.

He also praised the design of the interior, which features a large, flat dashboard and a number of screens to show information such as speed, information on the range and a clear sat nav.

Matt was also quite surprised at the ventilated seats, which can be used to heat or cool the front occupants whilst on the move.

However, whilst Matt was mostly pleased with how the Kia EV6 drove, he criticised one feature that it shares with a number of other new models.

He continued: “It does, however, have the scourge of modern cars of Lane Keep Assist. If I press and hold that button, does that go away? Yes, oh thank goodness.

“I’ll turn that pest off we don’t want you. But this is very heavily styled in a very interesting way which I really do quite like.”

First launched in 2021, the Kia EV6 is a five-seater family hatchback that uses the same platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Genesis GV70.

It received the European Car of the Year Award in 2022, with critics praising its good handling, sporty feel, and impressive range for the price.

Whilst the sporty EV6 GT can accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 162mph, the Long-Range models are able to travel up to 328 miles.
