Dacia has announced a new generation version of their popular Duster SUV, referring to it as the next chapter in the model’s history.

This third-generation model keeps the rugged styling buyers have come to love, including a long, flat bonnet; flared, matte-black wheel arches and large skid plates underneath to protect the car whilst off-roading.

David Durand, Design Director for Dacia, said that a lot of work went into making the car’s proportions right, which has helped to give it good looks and a rugged feeling inside.

He explained: “Before even starting week on All-New Duster’s style, we honed its proportions to find a strong, balanced posture. When you get the proportions right early on, you don’t need artifices to tweak style later.

“We wanted the exterior and interior design to be consistent. The taut and tough style inside makes you feel properly protected.”

The new Dacia Duster is also said to feature more sustainable resources than its predecessor, including a new material produced by the brand called Starkle.

According to the company, Starkle is made from 20 percent recycled plastic and is not painted, meaning it can help to hide ugly scratches.

Inside, the Duster’s interior will feature a washable TEP MicroCloud upholstery and the option of a Sleep Pack, which features a foldaway double bed.

Using a new platform, the upcoming Duster will have more legroom and boot space compared to the previous model, and the option of hybrid and fully electric powertrains.

Whilst buyers will have to wait for a Duster EV, from launch the SUV will be offered with either a 1.2-litre petrol with mild-hybrid technology or a 1.6-litre full-hybrid.

Budget-seeking motorists will also be able to get the new Duster with the same 1.0-litre bi-fuel engine, which runs on both petrol and LPG.
