Juan Pablo Montoya's son extends Prema partnership | F1 News by PlanetF1

Sebastian Montoya, son of ex-Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo, has extended his partnership with Prema Powerteam.

The 15-year-old made his Formula 4 debut with Prema in 2020, contesting the Italian championship where he recorded a best finish of P5 on multiple occasions, scoring 81 points across the season.

He also contested rounds two and three of the 2020 ADAC Formula 4 season, finishing P8 in two of his races.

And Montoya will remain with Prema for 2021, returning to the Italian F4 Championship, as well as contesting selected rounds of the German series.

“We are very pleased to work with Sebastian again for 2021,” said Prema team principal Angelo Rosin in an official statement.

“Last year, he didn’t have the easiest rookie season, but he showed great potential and we cannot wait to see him progress even further in the season ahead.

“We are making good progress with our preparations and we look forward to hitting the track soon with our full line-up.”

“I’m super happy to be with Prema once again in F4,” Montoya added.

“Last year, the team helped me massively to learn and improve throughout the season, and I am excited to see what we can accomplish together after one year under my belt!”

Prema have long been a fantastic proving ground for talented young drivers. The likes of Lance Stroll, Charles Leclerc and Mick Schumacher have all used Prema as a launching pad to Formula 1.

And a driver who hopes to follow that same path is Mercedes junior Paul Aron, who will continue with Prema in the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship.

“I can’t express how thankful I am for this opportunity. I’m super-happy to be back with Prema for the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine,” said the Estonian racer,” as quoted on Prema’s press release.

“The team is like a second family for me. We managed to do an amazing year together in Formula 4, and I am sure they are just the ingredient I need to make a successful year in 2021. Can’t wait for the season to start!”
