When are we finally going to get to see the Mk 8 Volkswagen Golf? We originally expected at the Frankfurt auto show last month, but it never appeared. Why? Apparently to make sure the ID.3 got all the attention (and all the clicks). But now we know when the eighth generation of the Golf will be revealed.
October 24th, says Motor1.com. They’re reporting that the new Golf reveal is going to happen at 12:00 EST on the 24th. The event will be held on VW’s home turn at Wolfsburg, Germany. The report says that the e-mail they got from VW said that the company was hoping to “set new standards with its unmistakable design, intelligent digitalization, networked assistance systems, and the entire range of efficient and electrified powertrains.”
They’re also reporting that production of the new Golf has already started at the company’s factory in the same city. The wagon is also going to be built there, instead of Zwickau where the long roof version was built previously.
The wagon, as we’ve already reported, is most likely not coming to the US. It may still be coming to Canada, though, or at least they haven’t ruled it out yet. The base model of the new Golf is also not headed to the USA, with the market only getting GTI or R.
Expect us to bring you full coverage of the new Golf when it’s revealed later this month.
