With a whole year ahead of us, it’s time to have a look at the upcoming car launches of 2021.
This list is based on rumours & hearsay, and thus should be treated as a tentative list only.
Car models costing over 55 – 60 lakh rupees, and many fully-imported-cars (CBUs), have been excluded from the list. Reason = Low relevance & commitment to the marketplace.
- Maruti Suzuki Celerio : The new Celerio will be based on the Heartect platform that underpins the WagonR and S-Presso
- Tata Altroz Turbo : The turbo petrol variant could get the option of a DCT
- Tata HBX : The HBX will be Tata’s micro SUV
- Renault Kiger : The Kiger will share its underpinnings with the Renault Triber and the Nissan Magnite
- Skoda Vision IN : The SUV could get 1.5L and 1.0L turbo petrol engines
- Volkswagen Taigun : The Taigun will share its platform with the Skoda Vision IN SUV
- Citroen C5 Aircross : The Citroen C5 Aircross will be the first product from the French automaker for the Indian market
- Mahindra Scorpio : The next generation Scorpio is expected to be based on a ladder frame chassis and could be powered by a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine
- Skoda Octavia : The 4th-gen Octavia will shake up the D1 sedan segment
- Tata Gravitas : The Gravitas is the 7-seat version of the Tata Harrier
- Mahindra XUV500 : The second-generation XUV500 is quite an important product, considering the 1st-gen’s success
- Isuzu V-Cross : In international markets, the V-Cross is powered by 1.9L and 3.0L diesel engines
- Skoda Kodiaq Petrol : The Kodiaq is expected to get a 2.0L turbo petrol engine
- Maruti Suzuki XL5 : The XL5 could be based on the WagonR and sold through Nexa
- Tata Altroz EV : The Altroz EV was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo
- Tata Tigor EV facelift : The Tigor EV facelift will get the same updates as the regular Tigor facelift
- Renault Triber turbo petrol : The Triber could get a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine
- Mahindra TUV300 facelift : In addition to updated styling, the TUV300 will also receive a BS6 compliant engine
- Citroen C3 Sporty : This sub-4m SUV could be built in India, but its powertrain is likely to be imported
- Force Gurkha : The off-roader retains its Mercedes G-Wagon inspired boxy looks
- Maruti Suzuki Jimny : The Jimny could be offered as a 3-door or as a 5-door
- MG ZS petrol : The MG ZS facelift could be offered with a 1.5L petrol and 1.0L petrol hybrid
- Mahindra eXUV300 EV : The crossover is said to have 370 km of range
- Mahindra TUV300 Plus Facelift : The Plus is a longer version of the TUV300
- MG Hector facelift : The updated Hector will get dual-tone interiors and 18-inch alloys
- Ford SUV : Ford’s next SUV is likely to share parts with Mahindra’s offering
- Mahindra Marazzo Automatic : The MPV is expected to get an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission
- Jeep Compass Facelift : It is expected to retain the same set of engines as before
- Hyundai Creta 7-seater : The 7-seater Creta will get a distinct exterior and possibly a different name
- MG Hector Plus 7-seater : It will get a bench seat in the second row
- Tata Hexa : It is expected to come with the same 2.2-litre Varicor diesel engine that will be updated to comply with the new emission norms
- Jeep Compass 7-seater : The 7-seat Jeep Compass to get more powerful 2.0L diesel engine
- Volkswagen Passat Facelift : The BS6-compliant Passat is likely to get a turbo-petrol engine option
- Hyundai Elantra : The 7th-gen Elantra is wider and has a longer wheelbase
- Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine : The sedan is expected to be offered with three engine options
- Mercedes-Benz GLA : The GLA is expected to be offered with petrol and diesel engine options
- Toyota Fortuner Facelift : Toyota could launch the updated Fortuner with a more potent engine
- Audi A4 Facelift: The A4 will be available with a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine that makes 188 BHP
- Volvo S60 : The S60 will be offered with a 2.0L petrol engine
- BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine : The Gran Limousine has a longer wheelbase and offers more legroom compared to the regular 3 Series
- Ford Ranger : The Ford Ranger pick-up truck shares its underpinnings with the Endeavour SUV
