Leno\u2019s Morgan 3-Wheeler Is Exactly as Interesting as You Think

It might not be a surprise that Jay Leno owns a Morgan 3-Wheeler. OK, Leno owns a pair of three-wheeled Morgans, but this episode highlights his relatively modern 2014 Morgan. This British oddity revives the look of the older Morgan three-wheelers but with a whiff of modernity. Powered by an S&S 2.0-liter V-twin and mated to a Mazda five-speed manual transmission, this cyclecar is one of the most interesting new cars you could have bought last decade.

If you’re wondering why a vehicle like this exists, Leno explains: taxes. It dodged a British car tax because the tax was assessed on the vehicle’s wheel count.

While the three-wheeled Morgan cars started as a workaround for the price-conscious consumer, its evolution to a toy is what makes it interesting. Leno explains that driving the Morgan 3-wheeler is, expectedly, similar to riding a motorcycle. This small, low, V-twin-powered cyclecar is about as bare-bones as you can get while reasonably arguing that you’re driving a car.

You can check out Leno’s walkaround and drive of this Morgan in the video above. Trust me, you want to watch Leno drive this: It’s worth it.
