Writing, producing, filming and editing a movie are the easy parts. The tough part is the publicity tour. To wit, the stars and the principals of movies meet with members of the press for interviews. For the upcoming racing movie Ford v Ferrari, we got two of them: one interview with Matt Damon and Christian Bale, aka Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles, and another interview with director James Mangold.
You get exactly five minutes in these interviews, not a second more. So have your questions ready. Autoweek’s Mark Vaughn asked a few questions about racing and car collecting. Turns out Bale owns an old pickup truck and an MV Augusta F4 sport bike, but that’s all. No “vast warehouses of cars,” he said. Damon doesn’t want a fancy collector car–when he drives anywhere, he wants anonymity. But both enjoyed driving the Shelby Cobras they’re seen piloting in the film.
Tomorrow we’ll bring you the interview with director James Mangold. The movie opens Nov. 15 and is well worth the price of admission–check out our Ford v Ferrari movie review for more.
