Aston Martin has announced the latest limited-run version of the DBX SUV, created in partnership with Bowmore Distillery. Located on the Scottish island of Islay, Bowmore has been producing Scotch whiskey since 1779, which makes them the perfect partner for a special edition of Aston-Martin’s most family-friendly vehicle.
The Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition, developed as part of the “Q by Aston Martin” bespoke-build program, is sloshed with either Bowmore Blue or blue-flecked Xenon Gray paint. The side strakes are juiced up with hammered strips of copper from Bowmore’s whiskey stills, and buyers can opt for brake calipers that are completely blacked out.
Inside, the DBX Bowmore Edition is well and truly loaded. The interior décor is plastered with trim created under the influence of Islay, including hand-laid copper foil and Bowmore Tweed fabric from the Islay Woollen Mill. The seats and other upholstery inside is done up in a two-tone copper-black scheme, but if you don’t like the idea of seeing double, an all-black interior is offered as a more sobering option.
The DBX Bowmore Edition is mechanically identical to the regular DBX, which means drivers will feel drunk with power thanks to a Mercedes-AMG sourced 4.0 liter twin-turbo V-8 that delivers 542 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. Four-corner air springs ensure that despite its tall stance, the DBX never seems tipsy.

Aston-Martin plans to build just 18 copies of the DBX Bowmore Edition, which will be delivered at what the company calls “an exclusive Aston Martin Art of Living experience” in Scotland. Buyers will take delivery of their new DBX in Edinburgh, then take a 170 mile road trip through Scotland. The three-night trip includes a tour of the Ismay Woollen Mill and a private tour of the Bowman Distillery, where they will be able to fill their own bottle of 39-year-old Bowmore direct from the cask, followed, presumably, by several cups of coffee and a quick sobriety test before heading home.
The Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition is available for order now, with deliveries scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2021.
