Top 5 Reviews and Videos of the Week: Supra Swoops In, Armada Invades

Much to the enthusiast’s delight, the Toyota Supra is back for the 2020 model year, returning to the U.S. for the first time since 1998. While it shares much of its hardware with its close relative, the BMW Z4 roadster, the Supra’s unique tuning truly gives it an edge — enough for it to slide into this week’s list of our top five reviews.

Cars.com reviewer Brian Wong says the 2020 Supra GR’s sharpened steering and suspension do a lot to set it apart from the Z4. But more than that, Wong says the car is just plain fun to drive.

“The Supra makes a bit of noise in Normal [mode], but flip it into Sport and it really unleashes the exhaust,” Wong writes. “When driving hard, the car makes a soundtrack to match, with a delightful growl while you’re on the gas, loud blips on shifts and all sorts of pops when you lift off the accelerator. (Apologies to my neighbors.)”

Wong also said the 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine that lies under the hood of the Supra feels like it delivers more horsepower than the 335 hp it’s rated for.

“If I had to put a number on it (unscientifically),” he writes, “it feels more like 380-390 hp, and it pours on very quickly.”

On the videos front this week, our First Drive of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade takes the top spot yet again, while our drag-strip test of the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat holds on to second place. Sitting at No. 3 is our 2019 Compact SUV Challenge, up from fifth last week. In fourth is our review of the 2019 Cadillac XT4, and No. 5 is our First Drive of the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer, both of which are new to the top five this week.
