Five bucks doesn’t get you much these days in the way of entertainment. But, if you’re like me and you like old Ford stuff, it will get you in to one of the oldest and most revered swap meets in all of Southern California, the Long Beach Model T Club Swap Meet. And while the swap is put on by the Long Beach Model T Club, that doesn’t mean the wares of those who be a’swappin’ are limited to Henry’s Tin Lizzys. Quite the contrary as it were! Sure, there are plenty of treasures to be found from the teens and twenties, but there are also plenty of rusty parts from ’28 all the way to the post war years. Everything from bare wheels and engine blocks to complete chassis and running cars were exchanging hands as we walked the aisles. While I spied a number of items I could have (or thought I could have) used, my smarter, cuter partner in swap meet crime ended up making the most logical purchase, a pair of Hot Wheels to add to her collection! Once all was said and done, we bid adieu to the club and headed home in our recently rebuilt Model A coupe, making for a great father/daughter day and one that will hopefully inspire another generation to carry on the love of all things vintage!
