The electrification of the Genesis lineup continues with the 2023 Genesis GV70 Electric, the battery powered version of the GV70 SUV that’s MotorTrend‘s 2022 SUV of the Year, which was unveiled at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. It’s the third all-electric model from the brand, and puts them on track to have a fully electric lineup by 2025. So far, plans are to sell it in Europe beginning this summer, but we expect the model to carry over to the U.S. next year, as well.

Genesis has highlighted the GV70 Electric’s “vehicle-to-load” (V2L) technology, where the vehicle’s battery pack can be used to power various different appliances and devices outside of the car, like a generator. It offers an output of 220v or 3.6 kilowatts of power, which can be used for gardening equipment, camping equipment, domestic appliances, or charging something like an e-bike.

Pricing and ordering details for Europe, and full specifications, will be announced later this summer. We expect the GV70 Electric to make its way stateside sometime next year, following the pattern of the GV60 and G80 Electric with an initial limited release in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York, before rolling out to the rest of the country by 2025.
