Ford said they will become a “disruptor” to themselves in the industry as they ditch their traditional petrol and diesel roots. The new programme will include a new £1billion investment in a large electric assembly unit in Europe to make up the company’s biggest investment on the continent for a generation.

The first car to roll out of the new factory is expected to come in 2023.
