Drivers have criticised the new fuel since it was launched onto forecourts three months ago, with many now claiming to have returned back to using E5 petrol. The Government said that E5 petrol would still be available at most petrol stations in the foreseeable future.
One concerned driver, Pauline, questioned whether E10 could be causing further issues with their car.
They asked: “Could E10 petrol be contributing to my now constant engine light and efficiency issues?
“Just had two cylinders replaced as per fault code but problems have returned!”
Engine light issues could potentially mean there is something wrong with their car if it isn’t being caused by the petrol itself.
Another commenter on Twitter, using the handle RaniJuelz, claimed: “They’ve definitely watered down the E10 petrol.
“I put E5 in the last time and not only does it last, the car feels different!
“It’s more expensive but it’s worth it.”
When it was launched, the Government outlined how the petrol would affect the vehicle.

It said E10 will not be more expensive than the standard petrol at the time.
This was massively affected by global supply chain issues, as well as panic buying during the fuel crisis in October and November.
It also clarified that E10 petrol can marginally impact fuel economy, which was generally believed to be around one percent.
This would, however, be almost unnoticeable to most drivers when making regular journeys.
