The changes will see the London ULEZ expanded from just city centre routes to all communities covered between the North and South Circular roads. The extra fee will see residents issued an extra £12.50 per day charge if their cars do not meet Euro 4 petrol standards or Euro 6 diesel standards.

However, experts at Car and Classic has warned several modern classics from top brands will be exempt from the fees.

Tom Wood, spokesperson for Car and Classic said there was still “hope” for classic car owners.

He said: “To many classic car fans, like me, you’ll have seen the ULEZ exception and E10 fuel implementation all over your screens.

“Not to mention having lived through the diesel scrappage scheme in 2014.

“It’s hard to not think it’s all doom and gloom for classic car owners.

“But I am here to look at the bigger picture and say that I believe there is hope.”

Audi

Car and Classic says the 2005 Audi RS4 B7 will be exempt from ULEZ charges.

However, the car is fairly expensive for a model which is 16 years old with AutoTrader suggesting the model is valued at around £16,000.
